Wendell D. Hubbard, born to a southern belle and an electrical engineer; was raised in California in one of the most infamous entertainment capitals in the world.  Even as a young child Wendell has always had a fondness for movies, so much so that it has followed all the way through adulthood.  Wendell was well on the way to taking the first step to make his filmmaking dreams come true by entering the renowned Film & Broadcasting program at Cal State University of Los Angeles.  During this time Wendell made many transitions in attempts to get into the world of entertainment; holding down a full time job and going to school as a full time student, he still managed to do a number of internships, which involved working with numerous influential companies and people.   Some of these companies include Paramount pictures and HBO, while also working on various musical productions.  Although, handling all this responsibility, as a college student was hard work, Wendell pursued with a fury, knowing hat someday all of his hard work would pay off.

…Back to the Future, Wendell struck gold!  By this time Wendell was know a graduate, holding a bachelor’s degree in Film & Broadcasting, as well as a minor in communications and journalism.   Working a full time job, Wendell wrote, shot, and produced his first feature film, called “RECOIL” a sort of sci-fi urban thriller.  Wendell enjoyed filmmaking so much, he was looking for the fame or glory; but lucked shined upon him one day when his identical twin brother Wesley (also on of the actors in “RECOIL” mentioned to Wendell that he should take his movie he poured his blood, sweat, and tears into to the annual American Film Market, which is an event hosted by the American Film Institute. 

….Pay Dirt!  A company by the name of Maverick Entertainment showed remarkable interest in Wendell’s film.  After negotiations, “RECOIL” was released to home video in November of 2003. The movie seems to be a hit and people really enjoy the movie.  Who’d a thought? The fact that this movie, shot on the lowest budget could make it in this BIG entertainment capital.  That just shows that it takes more than talent to persevere, it takes dedication and a strong will to succeed.  After all, Wendell is definitely one who likes to strive to succeed and exceed expectations.  (P.S. Don’t forget to pick up “RECOIL” in your local Blockbuster or online through Netflix.) 

Wendell, still standing strong, has a commitment to his craft and has currently completed his latest short film, “A Financial Act.”  After all, to Wendell, film or television is not just a way of making money; it is his life long goal, which he pursues whole-heartedly.
